    its a good place to start !! VX use special stuff in petrol cars ! and seen as its a 16 valve diesel i presume it will be an alloy head and need the same type of coolant !!

    check the radiator for signs of leakage, the pressure cap on the header tank for tightness, and all hoses for signs of dampness..

    also, while stationary, check for water rolling off the undertray onto the floor or a wet undertray ( look down by the turbo to see) to see if there is any leaks..

    failing that a cooling system pressure test will identify any leak sites..very unlikely that it will be a head gasket, and also unless you've run the engine on neat water for a long time, then it won't be internal corrosion..on a car your age it's antifreeze will still be up to strenght and will stand minor dillution..

    Not that you will, but if you need a new radiator for the 1.9CDTi.... I have one lying around!
    Bought it off a local breaker for my mate, but found out he didn't need one.....Now i'm stuck with it!
