    Question Fuel additives ?

When I got my '2.0DTi B' I was advised to use STP Diesel treatment every 3-5k by the service engineer, I did as he said and the car was a dream to drive - instant pull when th eright foot was pushed.

I have recently taken delivery of a '2.0DTi C Energy' and it now has 3k on the clock and I'm wondering what to do.

Is it worth using an addative or not.

    What are your views ?

I like the forte treatment for diesel. Used it on mine and noticed a difference. About £7 a bottle.

In my opinion they are a waste of time / money as the fuel has it's own cleaners and detergents and additives. Why 'dilute' the fuel with less combustible materials?

Having said all that, it must depend on what you do with your car as to any benefits. I do a lot of motorway driving, and the car is obviously warmed up properly alot of the time.

I prefer to use a good quality fuel ... I use Shell Diesel Extra in my CDTi ... I would not put anything else in it.

If you put Tesco, Sainsbury's, Morrisons, Asda etc.. Diesel in a modern Diesel Car you get smoke !

I find the Shell Diesel Extra gives good mpg and hopefully keeps the car running well

i used to put an additive in my 2.0 dti astra every now and again and the difference was noticeable. The main difference, and reason i kept using them was there was hardly any smoke when accelerating if i'd put additive in, if it hadn't had any for a while, it smoked like a *****.
