    Default V6 Coolant

    Morning all,

ON hardish acceleration I find that the coolant logo flashes up. It then goes off when the car settles. I assume this means that its a little low. Can anyone tell me what type of coolant I need? I saw somewhere that someone put water in to top it up; is this ok?

    Cheers

not too much water.. ideally a mix of water and the red longlife antifreeze should be used..Don't be tempted to add blue antifreeze to the car thou..

By "top it up" I guess you don`t mean to to fill the hole thing right? Just to the middle, where the arrow it`s at right?

i hope so...the coolant needs room for expansion, thats why they put the level to fill to 1/2 way up..

Why not blue antifreeze, its not going to do any damage.

it's not reccomended to mix them, thats all...if it's filled with red ( longlife 5yr ) then top it up with red..if it's been changed to blue ( 3yrs with less corrosion inhibitors) then top it up with blue..

standard practice is never to mix them..
