    Default Air in system 2.2dti

    hi all -

i used to have a 2.2dti omega, if i left it for more than a few days it refused to start.

anyhow someone told me that on those engines air can enter the system from the fuel return pipes.

any how my mate has seen a cracking 2004 reg vectra 2.2dti with similar problems.

is it possible that a fuel injector could be letting in air, and is there any way to check this out.

    are injectors difficult to replace.

    cheers

it sounds like a classic case of air entering via the injector leak off pipes..the rubber gets brittle and fractures allowing in air..

dead cheap, and dead easy to change..you don't need to remove the injectors etc at all..

if you had the choice would you go for a diesel or a petrol.

reliability has been 100% on it.. in fact i don't quickly recall any of us 3.2 owners ever having a serious issue with our cars..

realisitic MPG is a combined 20 in my auto ( but i do drive it hard) and manuals should give you around 26MPG..on a run it'll give up to 30 but no more..

I'm totally Biased..we have two 3.2's here.. (mine and the wifes) and the 150 CDTi that my father owns has been a dog..so i'm not looking to diesel any time soon..

    yep.. i get that feeling....

if it just is a swine to start after leaving it overnight, just look at changing the injector leak off pipes..
