    Default Faulty CDC 40 Opera?

I have just bought a brand new 57 plate Exclusiv and am having trouble with the stereo in it.

The first day I went out, I received the message "DAB box Error" which assume meant a fault with the separate dab unit. About an hour later it eventually worked.

Next day, I went to put it on and all of the stations had wiped themselves.

Now I find that it won't play MP3 CDs even though I was told that it would. I have used iTunes and Sonicstage. I've also tried CD Audio discs but it just comes up with "invalid disc".

Other than that, the car's tickety-boo.

If anyone has any ideas of a possible cause other than it is knackered they would be much appreciated.

I'll speak to the sales guy tomorrow but thought I'd ask in case there's something I can mention to him other than "give me a new one"

The CDC40 is no longer available at Opel, but before -until MY2006- it was the only unit without MP3 CD-drive

Yeah, sadly, sounds like a faulty unit.

On the back of a brochure I picked up for the 2007 models, there was a sticker stating the CD40 was no longer MP3 compatible, which would explain the invalid on the display.

I went down to the garage today to have a word with the sales guy about my faulty stereo.

I initially spoke with the service guy who stumbled upon something interesting which may or may not be true: If it doesn't say "MP3" anywhere on the front of the stereo then it doesn't play MP3 CDs.

This comes as a blow as one of the many reasons I bought the car in that spec was for the facility to play MP3 CDs and have a multichanger. I was told by the sales manager before I bought the car that it did and it also mentioned it in the brochure.

I've had a good look around and can only find 3 models of stereo available

    - CD30 - single CD player, plays MP3 Cds - standard on most models
    - CDC40 Opera - 6 disc changer, DAB, No to MP3 CDs - the one I paid the extra money for
    - CD70 - Single CD, Sat Nav, Plays MP3 CDs - the more expensive option

I'm not sure what to do as it looks like I can't have a multichanger and MP3 CD capability.

Hopefully I can sort this easily with the garage. What can I reasonably expect to happen when i go back down tomorrow?

I dont think the cd30 would play mp3 either as my son had one in his year old astra and took it out

I think that there are 2 CD30 models - one that does MP3 and one that doesn't
