Do you need it with a built in ADSL modem or just an ethernet wan?

Both Netgear and D-Link do suitable routers, but if you can afford it have a look at the higher end routers such as Draytek and the top range Billion routers as they generally process and can handle high traffic better.

Netgear, Billion or Draytek would suit.

Setting up a network will be easy - the wireless and 4 port network switch will physically link the computers etc together and the built in DHCP server functions will dish out the appropriate IP addresses - and you'll be able to browse the web etc.

To get the computers to talk to each other for file and printer sharing you'll need to make sure they are on the same workgroup (XP and Vista have wizards for this) and for file and printer sharing to be allowed in any software firewalls that may be installed (including the built-in Windows ones). Each machine will also need to have a unique names as well.

Hope that helps, if you need any further help don't hesitate to ask.

have a look at Peak - cheap simple & reliable. dont get hung up on speeds as your router will be 20 times faster than your connection speed.

It's not quite what you are after, but I have a brand new unused Belkin wireless router (without the modem bit) if anyone wants it for free.
