    Default Traction Control Switch

Dont't worry im aware there is War & Piece in the forum regarding TC Switch but to settle the issue i myself am wanting to be able to switch it off, but i had a word with the salesman at the Vauxhall dealer i baught the car from and he said that Vauxhall removed this 'switching off feature' because 'they found people were switching it off and putting themselves at risk'.

I don't understand - i mean the Vectra is front wheel drive - hardly oversteering and putting yerself into a wall material!!!!

But then again the PC people are a funny mob!

Then again why allow it on some models - would be grateful if you could post any of your successes or failures that way we may be able to work out what cars can have switchable TC or not - if there is any distinctful pattern - year, model, fuel type etc.

    P.S: Sorry for the rant

there has been this type of poll before. there is no pattern to whether the switch will work. it is pure luck.

It's only a few quid for the switch from the dealer, and if it's no good you'll make a profit selling on ebay.

No discernible pattern, but has definitely worked on some pre-facelift 2.0T's, 2.2 petrols. Will definitely not work on any 1.8 petrol. Will only possibly work if blue connector present/wired under blanking plate second from bottom on the right hand side of centre console. Don't know about diesels, though. The VX safety argument is spurious as Traction Control is always re-enabled from about 35mph if it was fitted in the first place. If you have a 1.8 petrol then it's a definite no.

Only fitted as standard on V6's, bundled in with ESP. On facelifts, No ESP, no TC. Simple as that.
