    Talking New Zorsts!

Well, seeing as the whole club is going performance MAD for this diesel league that Ian_C's organising on the 29th, I thought it would be an ideal time to dive into the overdraft, dust off the credit cards and have some fun!

So, after doing quite a bit of looking around, I decided to use MIJ Performance in Walsall to get a stainless steel system fitted. Then I realised that Spoons had used them for the VXRD and was so happy with their work that he went back to have it all ripped off again... ...only to have it replaced with an even more impressive system! So I was really looking forward to seeing what they could do with my car.

So, arrived as planned at 9am yesterday, and spoke to Jay, the main man there. We had a brief chat about what I wanted, and agreed that we'd go for a sports cat and full cat-back system

So, up onto the ramp it went, and just as I was finishing my coffee, watching the complimentary Sky TV, Jay called me through to the garage to see something. We stood looking up at the underneath of the car and he pointed up at the catalytic converter. He pointed at the multitude of wires and sensors going into and out of it and explained that he'd never seen anything like it before. The only thing he'd ever seen with anything near was a Mazda RX-7, and that apparently just looks nasty because it has a few lambda sensors.

Anyway, the upshot was that he wasn't prepared to remove the OE cat in case it messed up the ECU in any way. So, slightly disappointed, but a couple of hundred quid better off, I agreed to go for just the cat-back system with twin tailpipes.

So, a quick wander round the corner to the hospital canteen for breakfast then as we were walking back, my mobile rang. I looked and it was Spoons, so I answered.

    Me - Morning!
Spoons - Morning! Guess where I am right now?
    Me - Um.....
Spoons - I'm standing beside Jay looking at the underneath of your motor!

So, being the friendly chap I am, I wandered back to say hello. Jay had already told him about my mysterious cat, and Spoons had come to the same conclusion as me....

    ****ing DPF again!!!!

Anyway, 3 hours from arriving there, my car was back on terra firma with gleaming twin tailpipes peeking cheekily out from the rear skirt. I love the look, even though I was still a bit disappointed about Vauxhall's so-called ecological & technological 'advances'. I drove the mile or so from MIJ back to the M6 and was pleased that the car DIDN'T sound like it belonged to a boy racer, in fact, it sounded no different at all to how it had that morning. And then we got to the slip road.......

    OH

    MY

    GOD!!!!

The 'characteristic' 1.9CDTi turbo lag has virtually disappeared, it now pulls smoothly right from the word go. And I can definitely tell that it's got a few more BHP, too. Jay has said that he's going to look further into the whole cat/DPF issue and get back to me, because it's bothered him, too.

So, a HUGE thumbs up to Jay and MIJ Performance, superb service, a quality job and customer service of a level that we rarely see these days.

And no, there's no photos, I'm saving myself......

Sounds good- its what I want.

Do you have a CDTi estate - cos you say you have DPF.
Did they recommend any bore size or anything like that?Kept meaning to post and ask on any recommendations for the CDTi with DPF or any recommendations on where to get one.

Yeah, I have the estate. As for bore size, I really have no idea I just left it with them, and trusted their experience. But whatever they did, it looks great, sounds wicked, and works like a dream!
