Oh, my, GOAT!!! - Our company sponsored a local football match last night, Gainsborough Trinity vs Harrogate Town Nationwide Northern League or similar...

...and i have never been so amazed in my whole life by the attitudes and abuse and level of directed verbal violence by the players AND managers...

It was unbeleivable that we call this our NATIONAL GAME, it was an absolute discrace and something REALLY needs to be done about it...

Every decision the officials made was met by a torrent of F's and whatevers from both sides and the coaches...what is wrong with these wannabe footballers, do they have no respect, braincells or morals - disgusting...

    (sorry for rant)

but this led me to try a poll, on sports, and what people on here like...to see if we could ever have a new national game...

so if someone would like to create one for me, i would be most grateful,

    football
    rugby union
    rugby league
    boxing
    cricket
    athletics

That is just football, happens at every level you play at, you shud go and watch my brothers under 16s team. I'm not saying its right, but what can you expect when they see they're favourite players/idols doing it every week on tv?

You should listen to some of the parents at the football matches that the 10 year olds play in at the school my wife teaches at - she says it is so embarrassing supporting the children in her class that are playing whilst the parents are effing and blinding on the sidelines!!

Anyone ever stood in a rugby crowd???

I bet you've never seen pictures on the telly of the troubles (not) when the games over, or the fighting on the terrace's (none). You can take your kids to the game and sit in the with the other fans in safety. The only aggro here is on the field..

I may be slightly biased here...but have you ever seen a rugby played foulmouthing the ref.... Of course not..Instant Sin Bin..

So JCB may I put forward Rubgy as our new national game..

pah! lol! i'd love to pit England RUFC against England FC, that'd be a laugh...

i play rugby, and on saturday a member of the opp. disagreed sligtly more than he should have with the 'SIR' (as he's known by the players) and was off for 10mins...no-one else said a word to the ref after that...think they call it respect...

and your right about the crowds, at Twickenham both supportors are mixed together - i'd like to see Chelsea and Arsenal supportors sharing seats

Could you imagine the look on the footy players face's when they get a 'stinger'...I do think that they are overpaid and a bit 'prima ballerina'

what can be done about it though, i used to like watching football, no ref dare do anything, sending someone off will only encourage more abuse...refs should start boycotting games until the players can learn to behave like men...

What a good idea for a Charity match JCB.

40mins of Football and 40mins of Rugby Union.
    Football players v Rugby Players.
    Sponsored by amongst others, Vectra-C.com

I wonder if we could get it off the ground, and who to contact. It doesn't have to be Premiership players.

I like the sound of it.

well i could provide the rugby team (Scunthorpe RUFC 3rd XV), anyone play girl-ball??

we're not the best (hence 3rd's not 1st's), but that'd make life easier on the soccer players.
