    Default Double locking...

Just a real quick one as only just noticed it... when I press the lock button on the key for my vectra (04 plate SRI 2.0T) It locks (funny that )...

when i press the lock button a second time it makes a clunk sound as if the locks are doing something else then any futher pressings of the button result in nothing..

I know on my old 95 sri the 2nd press was to set the alarm, is this the case on this one too ?

the pins on the door become inoperable - which means that if someone breaks your window to try and open the door, they can't. try and see.

i think it may also engage an additional lock.

well that depends on who it is.

Cerealuk would have to be a very unlucky fella for his central locking system to fail on him at that exact moment in time.

and besides, you can set the central locking to auto lock the doors after a certain amount of time, so really there's no difference.

Really? Never knew that. I do know it's possible to set the central locking to auto-lock when the car reaches a certain speed.

    ...never tried it though.

Is there any way to set the car to auto lock if the engine is off and its left for a certain amount of time ? For example if you forgot to lock it one day ?

the auto lock is either determined by speed or time...can't remember for sure, maybe you're right. the annoying thing about it though is that you have to switch the engine off to open the doors, which is a pain when you're dropping off passengers.

only way the car would auto lock is after you've unlocked it but not opened any doors - after 30 seconds it would lock back up
