Last night this fella popped in for a short visit, the container that I had him in is about the width of a compact disc so you can see the scale better.




VV Humane Association monitored the insect action no insects were harmed in the making of this thread.

looks a bit like an emperor dragonfly

but im not too sure, the tail looks different, yes its black and blue, but ive never sing one with such defined rings like that!

could be a rare one.

I think you are right, when I let him go he took off like a helicopter, I expected him to fly off as fast as possible, but he just went up about 6 feet and then zipped of like the Enterprise engaging warp drive.

you should have put a tooth pick through it and taken it to the bug experts, never know, it might be a new species, and could be named after you!

Same one, by the coast in Hampshire, he did seem a little out of sorts at the time, came in and headbutted the walls a few times, that's when i thought lets capture him and get some pics.
