    Default FMIC/Remap thought/question

Does any know if anyone can do a bespoke map for the CDTi with a FMIC.
Another way, does any know if any company can do a live map such as on the rollers and adusting parameters while being used.To make the most of any mods done.
All I`ve read so far is about the maps being sent off to be written then put on to see how they fair. Then having to be rewitten if somethings not write according to a rr or how it feels to drive.
Also on a diesel can you get AFR`s?
If so does any exist - the thought behind this is that the remap can be adjusted to suit the engine better rather than chucking more fuel in everywhere, or doesn`t work this way.
(When I did my v6 we knew what the best fueling was - AFR and could therefore see on an AFR if it was running lean or rich and therefore adjust the map.Making the most of any mods)
The only company that I know (thinking while I write)that might be able to do this is Courtenay as they have a set of rollers and are/were doing maps for the CDTi.

Any thoughts or is it a dumb question and I should return to my hole.

No Chris.... I'm not doing 'live' mapping... the 888 stage II map that will be fitted early next week is being worked on with EDS at the moment.

It will then be uploaded to the VXRD for me to trial... if its better then I'll keep it. Otherwise the standard Stage I map will go back on until we figure out what to do next.

Being dumb here - but how will they know what to change on your map cos each car is different and how the mods affect it.Or can they write a map based on what size intercooler you`ve put on and it be ok.Surley - to me - you need a live map to get it right what to adjust such as fuel or boost. It can`t be a generic map.
Or have they already done a map for a car with FMIC of your size..your the test mule.

Yes you are correct.. live remaps are the best. but as far as I am aware you cant do live remaps on the 1.9 CDTi engine. You can only upload maps and try them out.

Quite often EDS Software will write a 'batch' of 10 maps and you can try each one until you are happy.

EDS have already done work with the 1.9 CDTI at various stages, so we should already have a map fairly close, if not exactly what I need. So will try it next week once the exhaust has been fitted.

I had to send 888 Race Engineering all the dimentions of the FMIC and a description of the exhaust system

    One question answered. bummer

So it is a bespoke of sorts as they`ll take into account the exhaust etc that you have planned.
So it suggests then that AFR`s aren`t applicable to diesels then.

I'm in the process of getting a bespoke map at the moment. We've tried a few maps now and we seem to be making progress. I'm in no rush so I'll just keep letting them try until they get it perfect.

You can't live map the 1.9CDTI or any of the full can bus 05 onward Vectras/Signums. The ECUs will not allow you to write parts of the map, it has to be the whole thing and you can not change it while the car is running.

Closest you get is trying multiple maps on a rolling road and then adjusting them and trying again, until you get it the way you want. I'm doing that now as I said but it takes time.
