    confused Tuning Box and DPFs

I have tried a number of times to get my Tuning Box to work on my Siggy 1.9 120 (04 plate & 75,000 miles) but keep running into the old Spanner light issue after about 250 - 300 miles.

The light will come on, you flick the ignition and it goes out for a few miles and then comes back on again. This will happen 10 - 20 times and then everything is ok for another 300 miles

I have read a lot of threads on this site about issues with the DPF and tuning boxes. While I haven't mentioned the TB the dealer thinks that it might be the DPF failing to clear itself and then going back into drive mode.

They want me to bring it in so they can take a look but there doesn't seem much point if it is just going to keep doing it.

My question is - Is there a way to remove the DPF or at least get the system to ignore it? Or is there a way to force the DPF to re-gen?

I have had the recall done but still get the problem.

the only real way forward for you is to remove the TB in favour of a remap..the DPF is not something you can just whip out.. as the DPF is already struggling with the TB i'd get it off as soon as i could...

The DPF rework should have come with a software update to make it regenerate more often anyway..so if the TB is still causing problems it'll have to go.

did you ask for a box for your DPF car?.. if you did, it will have different settings which won't upset the DPF so much..

    Thanks for the responses!!

Have spoken to the guys at Dragon today.

Their initial response was 'Why not take the DPF off?'

Explained that it was required (and the ECU would almost certainly know that it had gone missing) so they have asked me to send the box back (again) and they will look at it's profile and make some changes.

Will stick it in the post and see what happens.

Knowing my luck I just have an over sensitive DPF!! Will let you know what happens

Don't dragon state that their tuning box works with DPS's!
I was also looking into this as i have a 57plate estate, after doing research mainly with help from this forum i've ordered a regal IPF unit, it works with the DPF by altering the DPF burn off settings.
    http://www.regal-shop.co.uk/acatalog/The_EDS_IPF.html

If they asked me to take the DPF off i think i'd be a bit wary and walk away, It may suggest that they haven't done their research or testing of their units properly..

    From Dragons Website:-

Tuning also suitable for Diesel Particle Filter vehicles - DPF FAP etc

A further advantage of the new add-on electronic control units with multi ignition-map technology is their compliance with vehicle emissions standards. Through enhanced burning in all areas of vehicle performance, the fuel is 100% efficiently used, with soot and smoke being things of the past. Because of this, unrestricted installation of the modules is also possible in vehicles with diesel particle filter engines.
