Default Replacement Exhaust for 2.0 Turbo??

    Hi All

I've just had my second MOT done today and one of the things hi-lighted was that there is a lot of corrosion on the pipes from the T branch to the back boxes. Also the section up front, the bit with the webbing could do with changing. This came as no surprise.

Anyway can anyone recommend a suitable replacement? My requirements are not performance, just something that will do the job it was intended to do. Obviously cost and reliability are the major factor, oh... and it must look nice

What sort of price would VX charge or what would be the alternatives??

    Regards

    Nidge.

£650 you were robbed m8, did the fitter have a stripey jumper and a mask
Most powerflow dealers charge around £300-£400 for a cat back system.

Mine was done badly and i had to pay another dealer to get it sorted and still cost less than £480

I saw a thread on here (but cannot for the life of me find it sorry!) where someone mentioned you can get the rear box & tailpipe for the 2.0T SRi for around £150 each, have you any idea where?

One of the silencers on mine is on its way out and the other one's not looking too well either and have MOT due soon.

Vauxhall want £260 + VAT EACH and over £600 for two new silencers seems crazy.

The best that I've seen these Magnex rear boxes for £190 each which is a bit more reasonable although it says for the 2.2 SRi, would these fit?

Any suggestions would be really welcome; I'd rather stick with the orginal Vauxhall ones if possible, but as long as I can get something that is no louder than orginal, performs the same (or better), won't up my insurance and doesn't look like I've reversed into Halfords then I'd be happy!

    Cheers,

    Phil

the boxes from VX are extorsionatley priced..the best way to get another one under your car is to try and get a pattern box from a high street exhaust centre..or if you fancy a lookalike, get on to your local powerflow dealer who will have universal tailboxes and tips that will match the look of the VX system.

It would be a shame not to go for a performance exhaust(funds dependant of course)as it will help with the performance of the car - i had one fitted last weekend and it makes a difference

Well it would certainly make sense to get a better system for less money!

Would anyone know if these back boxes for the 2.2SRi would fit the 2.0T?

    http://www.magnexexhausts.com/rearbo...ils.asp?id=296

And I don't suppose it would be as simple as buying two of those and just swapping them over would it?

IIRC, the centre sections length may be different, but none of it is difficult to overcome..a few clamps and an alteration of pipe lenghts, or a bore changing sleeve will soon sort it out..

Do they say of the box includes hangers or not?..as you'll need some..

It doesn't specify, I'll give them a call and find out.

    Thanks for your help!
