    Default 225 45 R17 on SRI CDTI 150/190 Chipped ?

    Hi
Had a blow out on drivers rear this morning luckly wasnt going that fast so was ok ! I need 4 new tyres anyway so its not all bad. My question is can I put 215 45 R17 on it (has standard SRI wheels) the standard tyres are obviously 215 50 R17. Will it look right or will the car have to be lowered due to the increased gap from tyre to arch ?
One other thing I have two 225 45 R17 brand new in my dads garage so I was thinking if these are ok I could but them on and just buy two more ? will these be two wide ?
Please help as I need to replace them as I currently have that terrible tiny space saver on !

if you change the profiling on the tyre there will be an error with the speedo, be it only slight.... so you will need to make sure you know how far it is out...
width wise it should not be that bad, as i have 18`s with 225 tyres on..

My brother has just informed me that the two 225 45 R17's are about 5 years old (still have good tread) but are remoulds anyway !
Brothers ! y did he tell me they were ok to use then tell me there 5 year old remoulds ? think i will pass on them
Will just go with 215 45 R17's all round !

You will be forking out a shed load more ££££ then m8, thats whey everyone switches to the 225's as the range is bigger and much cheaper.

Edit: Just noticed you said 215 45, what makes you wan't to go for these or is it a typo.

I dont have my handbook in front of me but IIRC 224 45 are a Vx recommended alternative & the size I've just had fitted - you could come unstuck insurance wise if you use a non recommended size. I don't recall ever seeing 215 45 mentioned
