Default That time of year again.

When the insurance on my Signum is due.
Had a renewal notice from Performance direct for £713.33. 2 years NCD, all mods declared, class 1 business and 25k miles P/A.
Tried Confused, Tesco Compare, Insurance Supermarket and a few of the direct boys.
The cheapest I could find were IBUYECO @ £618.44 witha £220 voluntary excess, KwikFit @ £604.72 with legal cover and £170(?) excess and YES @ £627.91 with £250 excess.
Following the Moneysaving Experts advice I rang PD back this afternoon and told them the best quote I had.
Within 2 minutes, they requoted at £582.45 with £150 excess and legal cover!!

Makes me wonder how an insurance company can suddenly drop £130 in one phone call the robbing gits.

It pays to shop around, I saved £130 for an hours work.

Elephant insurance Co works like that as well, they give you a 1/2 decent first price.. then they start calling you.....

I 'dutch auctioned' them off the wall for a couple of calls against a figure i dreamt up..and they just kept dropping every time they called back....

ended up with free courtesy car, £120 saving and free protected NCB.. ..

if you don't ask , you don't get.....it pays to shop around and play them..

    Ummm, well I guess so!
It's just passed 82k, I've replaced all discs and pads and the rear dampers.
The boost pipe is blowing but I've done a bodge repair on it. £108 my ****!
The suspension is really creaky now so I may revert to standard springs as some days it makes some awful noises!
I have a faulty glow plug which has sheared in the head (don't ask) and the MPG is down to about 37 even with injector cleaner run through it and a spotless air filter.
If it lasts another year or so I'll be a happy man, but I tell you this, Vauxhall will never see another penny of my money.

from what i have learned from a few people working for insurance companies is that they have around 4 figures for each quote, they will obviously try to get the most out of you but keep these ones in reserve in case you come back to them stating some company has a better price more extras etc, they then " have a wee look to see what i can do for you " and come back with one of the other quotes and so on

They're all in business to make a profit I suppose. Going to go with my original insurers I think as it saves the paperwork and hassle.
Need to check one thing with them and hand over the readies, sob!!

Well, well, well. Just looked at my renewal notice to see that modifications are NOT covered on my policy.
Gave them a ring to enquire why as I paid for it on renewal last year.
Lots of backtracking and they are "going to ring me back and check".
They may owe me a bit of a refund for the last year I suspect. Pays to check the small print doesn't it??
