Best Diesel Fuel?

Hi All,

I used (many moons ago) to have a Peugeot diesel, and could always tell when I had put Shell Diesel in it, as it always seemed to perform better.

My Vectra SRI 120 CDTi Nav is currently giving me 48mpg average, and decent performance on BP Diesel.

Has anyone noticed any particular brand better than others, or as they all seem to share deliveries these days, is it all much the same?

On a separate note, had the car 2 days and LOVE IT!!!!

not noticed ant difference, so I just use the cheapest / most convenient

Mine seems to like BP's standard diesel, and also seems to like Jet as well. Supermarket fuel is so-so, more smoke than go with it.

Hard to say which is 'best' without understanding the criterion to which they will be measured.

Eg cost, cetane number, lubricity, availability, anti-foaming, benzene, etc etc

I'm half way through my first tank of V-Power Diesel and haven't noticed a difference tbh. I might give BP Ultimate a go as a new BP garage has just been built near me.

I always use Shell Diesel Extra ... Great stuff - I steer clear of the cheap supermarket stuff as there is less lubricant additives in these

Shell V-Power Diesel for me (with Millers Diesel Sport 4).

I started on BP diesel, then changed to Ultimate and noticed an immediate difference in engine noise and performance, the car was much quieter and smoother.

Recently moved house and now my local is a Shell station, so I thought I'd give the V-Power a whirl. The difference is the same again. The car FLEW off the forecourt!
