    Default Steering wheel

    Guys

I have attempted to remove the badge from my steering wheel and have stopped before getting some answers.

I have sort of 'dislodged' it and can see behind it but it looks like there is a pin right in the centre of the wheel.

If I managed to cut the pin and remove the badge would this affect the airbag? What would happen to the pin that would fall behind?

Biggest question. IS MY AIRBAG STILL GOING TO GO OFF?

Mate I think is not recommended to mess around with the airbag or its badge!

As BlueRob said, way too dangerous!

I think you will find that the badge is part of the airbag.
When people have wanted to change the badge fitted, they have had to have a new airbag complete.

I guess the thing is, what do I do now??

I am confused becuase I am getting different opinions but is it because, once again, that the Vectra is a weird animal? Someone with a new Astra told me he did exactly what I am doing and had no problems.

The problem I have is that I was a little gun ho because I was told I could do it and I have stuffed the badge proper now. I will feel like a real **** if it means I have to replace the whole airbag. Can anyone tell me if cutting that pin in the middle is going to ruin the airbag working?

What's my options. I saw a thread on hear about some airbags going cheap on ebay but that worries me just as much.

has anyone got any photos of the airbag dismantled?

If you are going to do anymore with it you should disconect the battery, then go for a cuppa to let it discharge, then at least it isn`t gong to go off in your face !

Ok, thanks I will do that

    Attachment 4635

From what I can see when I pry the badge away, is this hole shown above with a big silver pin going through it. That's it.

Do you think that maybe it's like a pin with a head on it that could possible pull through if given enough encouragement or would it be best to cut it?

I must admit that I am starting to get worried now.

i wouldn't start digging into the airbag, even if it off the car, to get any pinhead out..if you need to remove it now, then just cut it off..

As advised above, before you do any more to that airbag, disconnect the battery for 1/2 hour to drain down the firing capacitors and at least render it a little more stable..

Ok guys. Thanks. It would appear I have made a fundamental f*&k up. So, how easy is it to get hold of a debadged airbag. I did dind one for sale on ebay from a thread on the ebay part of this forum. Could they be trusted?

i've never seen a debadged airbag.. i have a nasty feeling it would only be a standard bag with the middle modified ( hopefully with something soft!!)..
