    Default air box mod

hi peps, no to sound stupid put what do you have to do on the air box as ive heard alot of people have done a air box mod? do you drill a few holes in the bottom, and do you have to put a performance panel filter in aswell.

Basically, take the top of the Airbox and the filter out, where the air intake is into the air box at the bottom, there is a flat peice of plastic about 2/3 inches long, just snap it off.

    Here, found a picture....

Some people say it does and some it doesn't, but it frees up the airflow so at least the whole of the air filter is being used. I noticed when I removed mine that half the filter was dirty and the other half that had been restricted by the plastic plate was clean.

Yep thats what I noticed. It has to improve the air flow, as noticed by only one half of the filter being dirty. Mine does feel a bit smoother but thats about it really. It can't do any harm can it?
Regal do it on the zlets as part of their stage one tune.
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

On a warm day, i have found little difference to performance, but on a cool/cold day, the difference is very noticable.
