Default RAC / AA cover Query

    Hi,

My car is just over a year old when I purchased it from a VX garage.

I had the standard 12 months Network Q with it.

However I have been told that...

    a) Network Q does not come with any RAC/AA type cover
    b) A new car only comes with such cover for the first year and is not extended.

The handbook indicates though that breakdown cover is included.

Is the garage correct and the handbook is wrong - or vice-versa?

I have my own cover from RAC for which I pay some crazy price both for UK & European cover (as I am disabled, I have to have full cover, as I cannot change tyres and bits like that), but it is useful to have a manufacturers cover as well if it exists.

    Many thanks.

network Q withdrew the AA cover early this year so u have to get your own cover, sounds like they have not updated there handbook.

ok - so neither Vauxhall nor Network Q cover a car older than 12 months

Sounds like they are all trying to cut a few corners

    Many thanks.

Yes indeed. More penny-pinching. VX used to give full AA on new cars until first service, and roadside afterwards. If you were on ECO-Service Flex, that meant 2 years full and one year roadside. All changed now. To be fair, some other manufacturers seem to be doing the same. If you have AA, they might offer you a half-price first year after your VX cover runs out, like they did with me. Everybody knows that Network Q cars are not fully checked, and they'll still fix them under the one-year guarantee, but if you break down, during that period, you're on your own. Not good enough.

Thats funny because I got a letter from VX last week offering me a top networkQ as my first year is about to expire and it includes AA cover equivalent to Option 400 with european cover included. I'd go back and ask network Q why then are they still offering warranty to new customers with AA cover
