Default Engine - EGR Control arm Thing

    Hi everyone

    Just read this thread

    http://www.vectra-c.com/forum/showthread.php?t=18643

And went to look at mine - they all look intact but the actual mechanism looks very flimsy.

What exactly does this thing do, and is it a common failing part on the CDTi engine?

Are those black o-rings really washers and how would you know if the mechanism was bust?

Can someone please post a photo of the complete arm so that I can confirm the look of mine.

    Thanks

    Hi Denzo

Well mine broke the other day, totally disconnected from those black o-ring thingy-me-bobs. Just taken it out of the car in case it falls down somewhere. One of those black o-rings seems to have loads of oil around it so i reakon its breached the seals.

I went to my local Vauxhalls today and the chap had a quick peek at it. He says he's never seen one fall off like that. He said it needed a new inlet manifold at 500 squid.

    Hi Cookie

The fourth one from the LHS on my car has a small amount of oil around the seal also .

Car is out of Warranty now ... and the last two services I had done by an Independent chap.

Can other 1.9 CDTi owners check theirs and report back please

Please let us know what the dealer says. My one with a small amount of oil on is the 4th from the LHS.

Did the three month garage warranty you have that you mentioned in the other thread not cover these?

Ah!, bummer. Can you not argue that these faults were there when you got the car? Get them to at least meet some of the cost?
