    Default Bumper Dilemma ....

I have been up at the bodyshop today as VX eventually agreed to respray my bumper. The guy at the autoshop said that VX new bumpers are a total nightmare, along with Toyota . He reckons that he cannot guarantee a better match, he said that the drying was different on plastic and metal and even when spraying a whole car the bumpers end up different sometimes. He will give it a bash if I want but cannot guarantee a better match, and even might end up worse !

So I am 50-50 at the moment, as spraying it will fix stonechips that are on it as well ..

So what do you guys think, heres a pic ..

I think I would chance it the only problem is if it comes back looking worse than before, I would still risk it and as you said gets rid of all those awful stone chips.

I would get it done, and if it comes back worse, get them to re-do it, again and again and again and keep on until its right!!

I had my old Vectra B Plastic bumpers painted by by an independant little bodyshop in Pearlascent Graphite and the match was absolutely perfect, the paint even flipped in the sun evenly!

If little back street garages can do it right, using VX paint codes, VX main dealers should be able to, and if they can't, they should be paying for you to go to someone who can!

Very nice car you have there m8, those sensors look wicked.
Heard something similar from my local Vx bodyshop recently about my rear bumper, with it being plastic and the paint may not be an exact match after respraying.
Not sure what others think but you'll get it done eventually so just do it.

The vauxhall dealer up here doesn`t spray so sent me off to an independant guy. I did think if it`s worse then just leave it there until they fix it properly ...

I had the colour mismatch problem on a nissan primera on the front and back bumper, the body shop said it had been sprayed at a different angle to the front and rear wings. i got the back one sorted when someone backed into me and the matched up the whole bumper no problem, got the front rematched at the stealers and they flashed into the front wings to make it match. apparently they spray the wing to the point it curves into the bonnet then you can't see it! it works because of the way the light catches the paint. if your unsure go to a couple of approved bodyshops for their opinion

    Bainie,

Why not get them to do the front wings too, then it will be less noticable?
