    Default Had a bump....

Stupidly had a bump today, but to avoid hitting the guy in front causing extra expense i swerved into the verge and into a lamppost, and upshot is new bumper required, waiting on a bodyshop estimate but the guy seems to think they cost quite a lot, anybody know of an alternative way to get a hold of one? Had a look on fleebay nothing doing, is it maybe worth tryin salvage places around Glasgow if anybody knows? I'm 22 and just got 2 yrs no claims so i *really* dont want to have to claim insurance if i can avoid it, because on top of labour etc its like £450-500. And my wages are ****!

If you can live with the bumper for a while wait and get one of fleabay, if you want to make it look a bit prettier until you find on, take off the bumper and get a heat gun to the back of it, you should be able to push of the dents while its hot, you may be left with a few creases but at least it wont look stuffed in,

Its pretty easy to take off, a few screws and plastic clips,

    Fleabay bumper £50-£100
    Paint if required £100-£120
    Labour £0

I too would try and hold off claiming. You are in the same age band as me with the excess. Mine would be £600 if i claimed and was responsible for the damage!!

Like mark said. Hold off with the claim. You can hold on for a cheap bumper. I'ts all less hassle, you have the car, do what you like with the old bumper when you have the new one, " keep grill's " save looseing NCD etc etc.
Sorry to hear you had the bump anyway.

Cheers guys, yeah defo not be claiming, my excess is about 250/300 anyway so for a 500 quid job then losing my no claims, its a no brainer. Its screwed back on for now, al be it misaligned but i'll hold off till i find a bumper from somewhere i think. anyone know what a brand new bumper costs from Vx?

PS home from wrk now, some pics. U can see the black screw thats been drilled through the bumper as a temp fix.
