My missus is scared of them too, I bought her some spider stop from Betterware. Although she still gets the odd one in so its not great. I think it has conker essence in it or something.
She has a wooded area at the back of her garden so she gets some bigguns!
Hoovering might be making it worse, I don't think they like dusty areas as it sticks to them and makes it harder for them to get around. (Thats my excuse anyway, and i'm sticking to it!)
As I'm told we can not have a cat or dog I've been trying to train the pet tortoise to attack a spider on sight but obviously its too slow and is too big to sneak up on them.
I went for plan B and went to Woolies and purchased a JML Pest it electronic gizmo. Also nipped to the local cemetery to get a fresh stash of conkers.
Let's see how it goes cause Plan C is for the missus to move in to an igloo
Simple answer.....
Hairspray!
I have one simple rule for spiders, 'outside you live, inside you die!' I spray the house once with Raid (lasts for about three months) and the little creepies just die as soon as they enter the house.
I tried that.......must have given the little (well, ferkin huge) blighter about half a can of raid and it just stuck its fingers up at me and walked off I watched it for a few minutes to see if it would keel over but it just carried on walking (or running) until I introduced it to my good friend the Yellow Pages..

I have one of these things and it means you dont have to get to close to the scary little b4stards!
They do work well, I was given one for free, not sure what happened to my plastic spider though... think he may have been spidernapped by some real ones..
