    Default Eibach shocks are fitted!!

Eibach shocks have been fitted today
    http://www.europerformance.co.uk/pag...html?id=446268

First off I had already fitted pi springs on the orginal shocks which dropped the car by 30mm.

I have reused the pi springs with the new shocks.

On removing the old shocks I found that the rear drivers side shock was weaker than the rear passenger side. And the front passenger side shock was considerably weaker than the drivers side front.
This may ahve explained the poor handling. The PI springs were never as tight as the orginal shocks so that did not help either. It took approx an hour to do the change over with all the work carried out by my mate Ron (big thanks go out ).

The refitted PI springs are now under much more pressure as the new shocks are shorter even tho euro performance do not state this on their website. This was a bonus and can only help the handling.

On the first drive out of the workshop the difference was noticed instantly. Just driving the 7 miles back home and wow huge improvement.
Worth every penny already. Will be out tomorrow for a couple of hundred miles for work so really looking forward to it for a change!
The car drives more positively in and out corners and even on the straight the car has a different stance. Its fun to drive again

Well when I got home the regal front strut was waiting for me, unfortunalty I could not find the torx socket needed to fit it so will have to buy another one tomorrow.

Well it will give me a chance to have a drive before it is fitted and then I will see if it makes any difference afterwards.

Further report to follow tomorrow night

Forgot to say that the car sits slightly lower as well with the new shocks, 5mm at least (should have done some measurements before I changed the shocks. Pics will follow later

I want my GSi to handle like a proper car and not a monocycle with an oval wheel and a flat tyre, dammit. Yes, I've got the dreaded back end twitch and Network Who? don't want to know, curse their mothers' graves.

But I needs to save me pennies before I can get any decent shock absorbers and springs. How much?

I changed my springs only as I have sri Shocks and these are already upratd adn quite stiff. I also have a regal strut. paid well over the odds the cost £140!! shoulda been no more than £90 in my eyes! BUT it does stick to the road like S-h-i-t on a sticK!

It`s cool how simple a spring change can deliver new car sensations

My rear suspension has been wrong since I had the car delivered 11 months ago. It "corkscrews" over speed bumps. What I mean by that is that the nearside bounces high, while the offside stays under control. I put it down to beggared shock absorbers but Network Poo "couldn't find anything wrong." Mind you, they also supplied the car to me with two bald front tyres, so they're no great shakes... (They fixed the tyres when I pointed it out to them...)

Just had the tracking done at STS in Riverside,Norwich using computer controlled system. An excellent piece of kit as they can do lowered cars which the normal lazer system cannot. Would recommend this depot to everyone who lives local as they done a really good job. Good bunch of guys and its made a slight improvement to the handling as well, as if it could get any better!

The cost of the shocks was £350 ish inc delivery and the springs were £60 which was a trade price about a year ago. I think they are noramlly about £100, pays to have a friend who owns his own coachworks company
