Default Slight steering wobble on 19" snowflakes

    Hi,

Just signed up and you guys seem like a friendly and knowledgeable bunch so wondered if anyone could give me a few pointers. Pick up my Sri vectra on Saturday which has the 19" snowflakes on and just wondered if anyone could give me a little bit of guidance. The car has only done 3,000 however on the test drive there was a slight wobble on the steering wheel at high speed, bairly noticeable but obviosly noticeable enough for me to pick up on it (i'm quite fussy). I guess this could be due to a combination of the wide tyres and the road surface, however i've asked them to do a full alignment before I pick it up to check there are no problems in that area.

Just wondered if anyone else with these wheels has experienced the same and therefore it is just a function of having the nice big wheels, or whether one of the wheels could possibly be buckled or unbalanced.

if you can drive through the wobble then its just wheel balancing if not cold be a slight buckle this can be checked at any tyre place .wouldnt think it was the wheel alignment

Many thanks for the reply Stuart. I'll get the balancing checked as well.

ill agree with stuart i got 18's on my bmw and i got a slight vibration due to a slightly buckled wheel no doubt due to the lovely conditions of the great british roads but if its only at high speeds it sounds more like balancing also ask them where they put the weights cos that can effect it sometimes to (i work in a tyre place as a second job lol )

i drive a sri 150 on 19" snowflakes and i've lowered the wagon by 30mm. now i took it to the dealer and they fixed the front control arm on it and now when i got it backit pullin all over the place from left to right. i mean u really have to keep ur hands gripped on the steering wheel. so they told me that i'd have to get it aligned as it was too low for them to get it done so my question is is there newhere i can get the cars wheels aligned or do i have to put the standard springs back in???????
