Default New job - working for car insurance

I've just started a new job today working for a claims service for car insurance. Not a specific company of car insurance, but an independant intermediary. I won't mention the company name for certain reasons.

Found out that they have a department that are run just to scout the internet for people about their cars. For example today we got shown an instance where someone wrote off a Subaru, and was claiming for a lot of stuff, but this team found him on a forum giving details about how he was screwing the insurance company over. So word of warning, if you're going to do it, don't brag.

I'll get a better understanding of how insurance works, and what goes into dealing with all forms of claims etc, so I'll try to give advice on here when needed. Be a few weeks yet before I'm trained on most things, but see how it goes

    Dan

Total Vauxhall have a disclaimer on their Rolling Road Pages that warns of a similar thing about declaring modifcations and such like, as insurance companies have scouts who just surf forum's looking for undeclared stuff.

Good to known though, thanks for the tip off.

You would be surprised to know who is scanning the forums

It is one of the reasons we have to delete certain posts. Not to be killjoy's but to protect the members and admin from being prosecuted.

    Trust me, it does happen

No but if they suspect, then a quick drive by will tell them if you have lwered it, changed wheels, etc etc. It narrows it down a bit doesnt it, and there is enough info with people knowing people's real names and all that to be able to have a damn good guess if its the right person.

I did once and I was.........

Do you know that there are people with the same name as me living in central africa? Not for much longer because people keep killing them.

Seriously - having been shown a few things by IT, it doesn't surprise me. Big brother is watching you - right now!
