OUCH! just had a quote from the stealers

Car(2.2 ELEGANCE petrol) has been poorly for some time different places told me different things had the coil pack changed etc..But now at last according to the dealers it is a tensioner that jumps and 2 timing chains that have jumped a chain no other major damage done,but its going to need 2 chains and a couple of gaskets parts costing around £200 quid but the labour is looking about £800 ! Anyone know any cheaper places near to me,and im due to go on holiday in the car on monday!

Price for the parts seems about right but that labour charge is scandalous i would get some quotes from independants if i were you !!!!!!!!!!

Dont know if any of you guys have heard of it happening before but bloke at dealers said it was a common problem with these cars

I do know there was an "issue" with the chain lubing method on the early 2.2 engines but i have not heard of any problems with the Vectra c seemed to be the veccy B still hope you get it sorted in time for your hols !!!

lets just say it's quite a big job, so a 'private' job should cost about a days graft.. so £200 labour plus parts??..
