    Default 3rd Service

The Signum is booked in tomorrow for it's 3rd service. Been quoted £185 all in inc vat. Does this seem the going rate?

Going to Burnham Garage in Slough.

Well I've just been quoted £260 for my second service.

So... I priced up all the parts that I need and it comes to £82.63 Inc VAT.

So I reckon I'm gonna do it myself (well, I'll ask Mark if he fancies a free lunch for doing it for me first...) as I dont really want to pay an extra £177.37 for what exactly...

True, not sure what is included in this service although he did say it was a minor one??

Maybe next time Mark can earn himself some money or give me some guidance Only reason getting it done asap is because it 2k over the service due.

I paid £189 for main 4th service last week at main dealer, plus coolant and brake fluid changes (about another 40 quid IIRC)

When I picked up my 53 plate SRi from the dealer, the only stamp in the book was of the dealer where I bought it... meaning they got it serviced independantly or not at all ... no other stamps in there at all!

Service update, just had a phone call to say

    Rear Pads 80% worn (£96.72)
Wiper Blades worn (They are only 2 months old, when I told him this he said "Oh maybe the windscreen needs cleaning")
    Pollen Filter (£19.27)
    Clean Air Con (£30.00)

Agreed to the pollen filter and air con, but not the brakes, guess I will wait for a Mark GSI how to day

...bit steap for a pollen filter, I picked one up from the dealer for under a tenner, and surely they can't charge over a tenner to fit it!

Not sure how easy/hard they are to fit?? Will remember for next time though.

On a different note, the rear brake pads @ £96 fitted this does seem a little steep does anyone know what part number or pads are required for the rear? I know I will need a special rewind tool fro the piston bit.

You don't need a tool for the rear piston, you can do it easily with a suitable pair of pliers. Pads are about £20.
