    Question Cold Air Intake?

Never really thought about this till recently, and I blame this 100% on Spoons and his FMIC

We all know there's problems with the lack of cold air around the engine bay, and while I was at Trax I noticed a lot of the Vec B's had what looked like an extra air intake - or even 2 - fitted to their lower grille....bit like this....

I pinched that pic from Vectra-Sport, but you can see the air intake on the lower grille.

What is it, does it work, and could it be done on the Vec C?

That is the end of a 'Viper' cold air induction kit as fitted to 'Tab's V6.. ( sounds wonderful BTW Tab ).. the viper is a sealed system so the cone can't draw in underbonnet air.. it can only duct from the front..

Pimm did have one on...don't know if his is still fitted..

Could it be fitted to a vectra-c...sure could..even in the same place as Tab...there is room to get down past the rad/intercooler pack, so why not....

    OK, next question...

I'm part scottish and the tightwad in me is looking for a cheap way to do this. I know the kit is only about £25, but I don't really want to go down the route of changing the airbox for an induction kit.

Could I route the cold air feed to the bottom of the airbox, or get rid of the current air intake pipe and connect it there?

I've got a cold air feed on order from regal, (im not a regal rep honest..!!) it comes with an "air scoop" it is for the 1.9cdti and not just a universal unit, i havn't seen it and i have no idea where it goes or anything, I phoned them yesterday regarding the IPF i ordered last week and i should be getting the cold air feed and everything i ordered one day next week, I'll let you know if its any good, Only thing is it was £120..!!!
