Default TomTom 700 - should I buy one tomorrow?

I am about to buy a tomtom 700 (for the kids to give me for Christmas! ).
I've found it on Woolworths web site for £449 plus a fiver postage. I think that's the best price anywhere at the moment and will probably order one tomorrow.
No doubt a week after I buy, as is normally the case, they'll be everwhere at £399!!!
Anyway, I've chosen this one because it's got full (detailed) mapping of the whole of Europe built in, together with seven digit postcode in the UK and a built in battery, so it doesn't have to be plugged into the cigarette lighter on shortish trips.
Any tips/comments/advise from anyone who's got one. Am I doing the right thing and are there any alternatives that I ought to consider.
    Thanks in advance,
    Doug

The Go 700 is a cracking little device. As you say, full European maps on the built-in hard disk, very easy to use etc etc. I don't think you'll be dissappointed.

I have a Go 700, cracking little unit, hands free Bluetooth car kit built in as well.
£449 is a superb price, I paid £499 from Halfords for mine two weeks ago.

I have a 500 and the only thing I would say is that you wont use the bluetooth facility for hands free, its just not good enough... in terms of actual navigation though it's superb. The battery actually lasts a fair while, but having said that the signal power always seems to be better when the charger is plugged in - you coiuld always get it hard wired to save having a wire draped across your dash. Hope that helps.

I read it mate, just didn't know what to say! It's unbelieveable how much effort these scumbags will go to, it would almost make sense if they took the bl**dy car! I must admit I leave my tom tom in the car a lot of the time, just havent got in a habit of taking it out, sure as hell will do now. Really sorry for your news though mate.

Thanks for all the advice and very sorry to hear what happened to you Ceejay.
I ordered my TomTom last night - only just made it as Woolworths were having a 10% off 'special' on their website which was only running on the 4th and 5th of November.
I just made it.....at ten minutes to midnight, so just managed to get it ordered before the offer expired.......Thanks then to Mrs Doug for spotting this offer whilst she was trawling the net for Christmas prezzies for the kids.
I don't get to see it 'till Christmas morning though!!!

Yesterday my TomTom 700 arrived....but already the kids have wrapped it up for me to be surprised on Christmas morning! Bless!
DHL delivered it from Woolworths.com (@£455 delivered) but, since no one was in, and apparently not requiring a signature, they threw it over the garden (six foot wooden) gate where it sat all day whilst Mrs Doug was at work. A card through the letterbox said "left in garden"!
Thankfully is wasn't raining, and it was double box packed so is still in one piece!
    Can't wait!

I'd still have words about them thowing it over a fence and leaving it. If it was me I would go with either:

    A) What parcel? Not received anything here....
    B) Not happy, give me 20 quids worth of vouchers now.

Option A would see you making 400 quid from flogging an additional unit on ebay......
