    How can this be, No oil, No water, at full rev's for 3 and half minutes, and it still turns over afterwards!

    i think they did sommat like that on mythbuster's. Drained all the oil out amd put sugar in the fuel tank amd it still ran. Can't see the link as i'm on my mobile so it could be the one i'm on about

    That oul engine was that slack it would run forever. My folks had a Chevette 1.2/1.3 and it ran 60 miles with no oil, didn't bat an eyelid apart from the smell of burning chips for some reason.

    They did this test with a pair of Capri's, one seized after a lap and the other just kept going.

    I believe the V8s used in the current model Holden Commodore can run for 80km without coolant without damage by alternating cylinders.

    I suspect running without oil would prove a much bigger challenge though!

    They did something similar on the TV (5th gear?) IIRC they drained the oil out of an old Audi and thrashed it until it broke what a waste of car !
