    I would change it,without a doubt.

As has been said before, if you dont and it snaps, then its a very expensive game to fix it.

Is it true that models from 2004 onwards have a cam chain and not a belt?

I've got a 2.2 petrol, although i take it the chain must be under the engine cover. Is the belt to the left of the dipstick the fan belt?

Having read the posts about the 'rattle' i'm getting a bit worried about mine

On start up sometimes the engine can sound like a diesel, also once it's been running it sometimes sounds like this until i switch off. Is this a problem??

On My old Vectra I changed the Timing Belt always at 20.000 Miles or 2 Years ,just for Peace of Mind.Sold that Car with 168.000 Miles and the New Owner is after 4 Years still happy with the original Engine.
P.S. The Belt has not Jumped 1 Tooth??? Check the Timing first.

Being a total newbie to engines and oil changes etc, reading some more posts there i think it might be a good idea to top up the oil. Where does it go and whats the best kind?!
