    Default "Check Safeguard" on Display

Occasionally, when i unlock the car, i get in and the dash is displaying "Check Safeguard" on the display. Its a pre-facelift with the 3 line display.

Anyone any idea's what it is??

It's referring to the alarm system. Have you done any mods around the sunglass holder/light area where the ultrasonic sensors are? If so, you've probably disturbed a connection and it's not making full contact.

If you haven't then it may be a trip to the dealers - it's basically detecting a problem in the alarm system somewhere.

Not touched anything up there, although did bang my head on it a while back. May well have disturbed something as you say.

The same happened to mine a few months ago, a trip to the dealers and a new module supplied under warranty.

    I think it's just a 5 minute job

Mine has just started to say this but have also noticed that the courtesy lights dont come on when n/s rear door is opened, i've looked in the door shut looking for the little push button sensor thing that cars normally have but cant find one, anybody know where it is?

It's built into the mechanism in the lock part in the B pillar I believe. But if yours is saying 'Check Safeguard' as well as the lights not coming on, I'd be looking at the connection where the lights/sensors are in the roof.

I think it is just that door as the interior lights come on when any other door is open, in the rev counter display it doesnt say when the rear n/s door is open also so thats why im thinking it must be something to do with the sensor for the door being open/shut.

Sorry to bounce such and old thread...But my Signum gets the "Check Safeguard" and...

my boot wont open (exterior/interior button wont work but will still open manually with the key from the inside)
    the rear wiper wont work
the rear numberplate light wont work

Think there all connected? I'm thinking one sensor is out so its throwing off the the hole circuit for the tailgate?

Imagine it will be trip to the dealer but any help would be much appreciated
