    Default OK, I am modding it!

    I know I said to everyone at Trax that I wasn't going to touch my car, but after a bit of an 'interesting' journey yesterday, I'm wanting a few bits!

    Basically, I got a call at 14:00. It was Shaz, she had been rushed into hospital in Newport, South Wales, she'd been at a conference at the Celtic Manor. She was in floods, there was a problem, I'm frightened, please get here. Before anyone panics too much, All appears OK. He's still there, spinning like a Tazmanian devil on acid, and the little heart's beating away! Been advised to rest for the remainder of the week, which basically means we won't be at Donny for the Renault world series.

    Anyway, I was in Banbury, To get to Newport, there's no Direct route, so had to do a cross country dash to get to the motorway.

    During the journey, To keep me sane more than anything else, I noted a few 'shortcomings' and I've decided on the following;

    BSR Upgrade; there were a few moments I could have done with a bit more power. It was a bit stifled on a few hills, and a couple of times, I held off of overtaking some slower vehicles (mind you, everything on the road was slower yesterday...) as I just wasn't sure if I'd make it safely. Far from the cars fault, it's the first time I'd ever pushed it that hard so had no real comparison!

    Decent tyres; I'm sorry, but I'm just not a fan of these Continentals. In ordinary driving, they don't seem to grip, you've really got to work them waaaay too hard to warm up to give you anything. I'd give my right arm for a swap to Eagle F1's, right now.

    Irmscher Suspension; A couple of mid corner bumps or quickly crested bends, really showed up a bit of wayward body control. Admittedly,I was going pretty quickly, but there were a few 'iffy' moments!

    Brake upgrade; Before I'd cleared Chipping Norton, the pedal was getting a bit long and unresponsive.... This isn't the first time I've thought about a change though. I'm sure the SRi ones were a lot better. And when a bimbling divvy in a Polo pulled out in front of me on the M4!!

    All in all though, the car performed heroically. Even the up till now easily confused Sat Nav found me the best route straight away! On the motorway is where it shone though. It just absolutely demolished the remaining distance without protesting at what it was being asked to do. It could have gone a hell of a lot faster too, but I figured I was more usefull alive rather than in a box, or indeed a cell!

    But after all that TLC at Trax, I've made a bit of a mess of it though!
    These were clean before I left!

    And there wasn't a single bug splat on it!

    You've just listed four mods I did to my Signum that made a big difference! The tyres I had Michelin Pilot Sport 2 on my 17s, and once the Dunlops on the 18s need changed it'll be getting the same.

    As for the brakes, the brakes on your Signum will be exactly the same ones that were on your SRi so shouldn't feel drastically different - maybe they need bleeding?

    Not the best circumstances under which to find out you are modding it Andrew!

    Glad Sharon is ok though, thats the main thing.

    As for your mod list, sounds like a good plan.
