Is there any evidence that drilling holes in the air ducting has any beneficial effect???

Hmmm.. cant answer that question, however the idea is that it will allow more air into the engine.

So, the stages that I've done so far is

    1) De-restrict the Airbox (modification described in the 'How To' section)
    2) Cut aperture for better airflow into airbox

and two final stages to do...

    3) Fit 3.0 CDTi grill to allow air to cool engine bay
    4) Fit Front Mounted InterCooler (FMIC) to cool the air into the turbo

Therefore the above should make the car pull harder and for longer.

Were not actually drilling holes in the air ducting. Were making a hole opposite the air intake to allow clean forced air into it... rather than it having to 'suck' turbulant air from elsewhere behind the bumper !!

    Beneficial effects....

    Nutron reckons so...
    Regal Autosport reckon so...
Maverick has done the same and swears his car is faster for it...

So if its good enough for them.....

Was that an insult or a compliment?

Might give a few, I didn't do a before and after RR though. It just helps with the cold air, won't get any ram from it.

Bet you won't be doing what I'm later though...

edit :- The FMIC cools the air after the turbo Spoons, as the turbo being driven by the exhaust gasses gets very hot and imparts that heat onto the air as it flows through it.

right, I thought it was the air ducting you were drilling directly. Maybe I should look harder next time

It was a statement of fact (but you should take it as a compliment)

If it involves dismantling turbos, exhausts or engines.... then no... I've reached my technical capabilities with the modification above.

Saw them at Trax, looked decent stuff. Was going to compare them price wise with Samco as I've got a bit of a mod that I'm thinking of - something for over winter.
