    confused CDTI 150 Spanner on Acceleration

    Hi,

    I have a 2004 SRI 150 with a DTUK Green Tuning box

    had the car two months and all has been fine (barring needing a new EGR cooling pipe).

    but my veccie has just recently developed a problem that if u boot it, the spanner light comes on and after a minute or so, the car has absolutely no power. if i stop and turn it off/on, all is grand and the light is off unless i boot it again.

    i can rev the car to any point and it doesnt come on - it only happens if u floor the pedal (or put it more than 1/2 down id say) and it happens every time.

    atm its not causing a big problem - its just hard to know how far to push the pedal down when u are passing something/accelerating etc.

    when the car is floored, the light seems to come on at 3000rpm or slightly after. im worried this is a serious turbo issue.

    reading on this form, is it possible this is the EGR valve or the swirl valve?

    going to take off my chip to see if that stops it but failing that i guess ill take it to a diagnostics comp.

    any ideas welcome!

    Turn down the box a "nats ****",thats what Andrew at DTUK told me,solved the problem.talk to him he is very helpfull.

    The first thing I'd do is remove the tuning box just to rule it out matey.

    To be honest it could be any number of things -

    1. Faulty Injector (common on the 1.9 CDTi)
    2. Faulty Injector Harness Wiring
    3. The dreaded 'Swirl Valve'
    4. Air Mass Meter or Sensor
    5. It could just be the tuning box is set too high

    The only way to find out for sure is to have it plugged in to a Tech2, and as it's happening everytime you boot the car I'd do it sooner rather than later.

    aah i didnt think the injector wiring could be causing this too,

    i forgot to mention that i had a problem with the connector going into my cyl 3 injector last week. brought it to diagnositcs (showed up malfunction on cyl 3 injector circuit)

    we cleaned it with switch cleaner but it seemed to be worn so put a cable tie around it to keep it tight.

    seemed to be grand from that. if it was this connector, would it not happen all the time, rather than just under acceleration?

    movement may be causing it to be intermittent

    Lose the crappy 'box and see if that cures it. Common problem with EML's popping up with what is really a souped up EBay resistor trick.

    changed my diesel source and now no light!

    maybe just a coincendence, maybe not, gona run a few tanks of "good" diesel before going back and trying one from my original regular source.

    if the wiring to number 3 is suspect anyway then it needs fixing first...and as AJA said, drop the box off for a week to see if it's any better.. Get the car basically good to start with then you can eliminate things better..
