Default Question for the Police on here

We have a car parked up our road (not moved for 6 weeks), legally ie taxed. However the dustcart is unable to get past which just means that the dustmen have frther to walk. I guess that a fire engine would also be unable to get past, would the police be interested in removing it due to the obstruction or not as it appears to be fully legal?

If I were sent to deal with something like that I would try and trace the keeper and get them to move it.... If a fire appliance needed to get through, it would get through whether or not the gap is big enough!!!

I know our force would not remove the vehicle due to costs etc, but your local force might? Best to speak to the council and or the police and try and work something out.... I would sugest calling your local station and asking to speak to the local beat manager or CSO as this is a 'local policing' issue which they are best uited to deal with.

No! As far as i'm aware that would be theft.... especially if it is taxed!

Does anyone know the legal definition of when a car is deemed to be abandoned and can therefore be claimed by anyone???

There is a law which states that if a car does not move for a certain time you can claim it, can`t remember how long it is though, I remember reading about it a while ago in a car magazine .
