Firstly, can I thank each and everyone of you who made the effort today and joined us all at Silverstone.
A few of us (Ian_C, Stevel & Collette, Me and my clan) stayed the night at the Premier Travel Inn at Banbury, and what a fantastic night we had. I didn't get to bed till after 11.30pm leaving the other three in the bar. We all met up again at 7am and set off at warp factor 10 as Ian led the way. Shazz's little 1.8 Coupe managed to keep up with him fairly well.
On arrival at the stand I was surprised to see so many members already setting things up, so after a quick conflab with Duncan we decided to stick with our original plan and set about pestering everyone to move their cars around. I'm sorry if it felt like we were being a bit fussy, but the end result was a stand that look stunning and got a lot of attention. Thanks for your patience peeps.
The BBQ team (Phil, Nick, Clare, Pricey, Andrew and ditch (sorry if I've missed anyone)) did a fantastic job as they always do. The food kept coming and was spot on. Thanks peeps.
We asked Dougie from Total Vauxhall to be a judge. We didn't give him any criteria to judge by as we wanted him to just choose a car that stood out to him for whatever reason. I walked around with him pointing out cars and answering any questions he had. He awarded the 'Judges Prize' to Payney's car, stating that, 'this car proves you don't have to have a big V6 engine to fall in love with a car', and 'it's very tastefully modded'. Dougie wasn't looking for a modded car either as he had a long look at yorkshireborn's car as he loved the fact that it was a standard car and in such fantastic condition and he really loved the colour.
The member's choice vote also went to Payney's car, the jammy ******. It is surely down to the fact that Nick puts a lot of time and effort into it, and it shows. Well done Nick (and Clare), the awards are well and truely deserved.
Everytime we have a big get together like this it never fails to amaze me how much work you lot put into your vehicles. From standard to fully modded cars, they're looking absolutely tip top and do you all proud. I've always believed that we as a club have the best cared for cars in the Vauxhall Car Club scene, and after a walk around today I believe we had the smartest looking stand at the whole TRAX show. This is all down to you peeps. Thank you everyone!
That's pretty much the show season starting to wrap up now. There's obviously still lots of regional meets to attend so keep a lookout in your Regional Section. Plus keep a look out for when Pudsey is in your area as we need to push that now before November. As the winter months approach you'll see a lot more sociable meets and events springing up as no one likes to stand around in the cold. Expect meets like Paintballing and Nights out of the lash etc.
So, I raise my tin of Foster's in a toast to Vectra-C.com. Please remember it takes members to make a club and my god you peeps have made a club to be proud of. Long may it reign!
