As many on here will know from previous threads i have not been happy with the noise that my Bridgestone Er30 r16 tyres make on a brand new 07 plate 1.8 exclusiv. After reading alot about other people complaining about the noise i have complained to my main dealer.
They came out on a road test with me and did say that they thought they were noisy.(they are fitted on steel rims not alloys)
They have now come back with a few offers.
I wanted them to replace the tyres with new ones and they could use my tyres(which are as new) on their network q cars.
I said that i'd pay for them to be swapped over and balanced and offered up to £30 per tyre.
They initially came back with a price of £61+vat per tyre fitted for free. They said that this is the cost price to them.
After saying that i wasn't prepared to pay that they have just rung up and said that they'll fit new dunlops for £45inc vat but they keep my old tyres.
This still works out at £180 for all 4 which i know is a good deal in general for tyres but considering that my tyres have full tread on them,i'm a bit loathed to pay out £180.
Basically what do you guys think?
Also my fitted tyres are 215/55 R16's which according to the brochure are low profile tyres.
I would like more profile for a better, softer ride but the dealer said that any bigger wouldn't fit.
I would have thought that i could get away with 215/60 R16's.
Does anyone know if these will fit?
I know most of you always want a lower profile tyre for looks but i feel the suspension is a bit harsh and bigger profile tyres might help.
I can get £20 per tyre on Ebay for my Bridgestones so are the dealers being reasonable or should i push a bit harder?
