Thumbs down How NOT to clean alloys....

First, jack the back car up and get some axle stands in. Then take the wheels off, lay them down on the driveway beside you while you clean the calipers and arches. (Do I get Brownie Points on Sunday for that? )

Now start on the wheels. AG alloy wheel cleaner (or whatever its called) applied liberally to the face of each wheel, let it soak for a few secs then clean with a soft brush, removing all that nasty brake dust. Stand the wheels upright, and apply the same treatment to the insides of the wheels (desperately hoping someone will notice the hard work you've put in )

Hose off the wheels, front and back. Allow one to topple slowly away from you, landing hard on its front on the driveway....

Mines on the drive wrapped up in cotton wool after what I've been reading. Missed going to Billing last year in my car due to a mishap - at least we were there unofficially and just went to chill - so at least I didn't miss being on a stand.

Yeah the SRi spokes are angled, and they protrude past the edge of the tyre. I've got serious gravel rash on 2 corners, they'll need to be refurbed

On the upside though, it gives me yet another reason to upgrade to some nice shiny 19's

I like your style!! You sure you didn't drop them *cough* accidentally so you could get it past the missus to then get 19s?

Sadly no, never thought of it...but its a good idea! No, she's cool about things like that, she's even been helping me find some alloys I like - which I've now found, BTW

No how you feel. When i bought my nice new 18,s a few months ago i dropped one when fitting them and scratched the front. They are polished alloys with painted black gloss finish and it cost me £100 to get it refurbed. After getting round the misses that we really did need a set of 18,s and spending £600 of our hard earned, then to tell her that i dropped one and it was going to cost me,us, £100 to fix it really did not go down to well.
