Default spare bulb kit for spain

    Hi,

I am going to be driving to spain in a couple of weeks time, and Spain insists upon items such as a triangle, a high vis jacket (got an underground one in my garage, so that should do) and a spare bulb kit.

Where is the best place to get this from.

My car is a Vectra Elite CDTI (150) Auto, with Adaptive forward lighting with Bi-Xenon, so not too sure what I need or where not to be ripped off!

    Many thanks.

Dealer should have the relevant bulb kit for your car. Obviously with Xenons it'll be somewhat dearer then the kit with the halogen bulb in it.

I agree. VX Dealers undercut everyone else for a complete set . £7.50 for the pre-facelift (not with Zenons). Oh, and fuses too. Trouble is they don't always have them in stock. Oh, and facelifts have an different bulb for the Main Beam (H1 IIRC).

Also, for Spain you also must carry a spare set of glasses if you need them for driving, and 2 warning triangles, 1 for in front of the car, 1 for behind it.

because you have AFL (page 123 in the owners hand book) all you have to do is by a fuse any amp because all it dose is act like a switch and fit it in slot number 37 in the fuse box (page 219) in the engine compartment (these are the big type of fuses)
and this put the lights into driving abroad left hand mode.
    Switch on ignition
then the AFL control indicator light up for 4 seconds (28-29 page)
you cant by a bulb kit for AFL so all i did was just get a normal one for VX

You'd only have to carry one spare - that's all that comes in the Vx halogen kits, but as Ian has said just get a normal kit with the halogen bulb. Chances of them even stopping you and asking to see a bulb kit are somewhat slim, never mind them knowing what type of bulb it takes! lol

Xenons last so much longer than halogens that the chances of one blowing on your trip are, I'd say, very slim. Of course now I've said that, ones going to blow on your trip isn't it!!

    This is very true !
A xenon bulb is supposed to have a life of around 10 years ....... What usually goes is the power pack - amplifier - ballast (whatever the dealer wants to call it) that starts the bulb with i understand to be 1000's of volts and these are about £300 (each).

P.S. This is all from my own unfortunate experience with Renault xenon lighting, great when they work, a ba5tard when they go wrong !!!
