    Default Wireless networks

I have finally managed to clear my garage out and have set up in a corner my "own" pc, however it is out of range of the houses wireless network connection. To extend the range is it as simple as just getting something like this Clicky clicky or is it more complex? I really don't want to have to run a cable from the existing switch/modem thing to this so will it "just" wirelessly connect to the existing switch and then allow me to connect from the garage?

    Hope it makes sense.

    Thanks,
    Andy

No, what you really need is a wireless extender. That switch just lets you add wireless to a non-wireless network.

One sec, off to get a link....

    Something like that.

You don't need to but you may want to stick with the same make as your wireless router? Most of the main makes do one. What make is your router?

That won't help him VV, they're just USB wireless adapters - he needs to extend the range from the wireless router in the house to the PC in the garage. I'm assuming he already has a wireless adapter on his PC or built-in on a laptop.

...or move the wireless router to a more central location in the house, it only needs to be near a phone socket, not a computer.

May already be on the side nearest the garage! - also it will need to be near a computer to allow wired connection for router admin.

Sure, of course you can but if the wireless is playing up you'll need to access it by wired means.

Noted, but the longer I keep arguing, the less time there will be for me to cut the grass tonight!
