Default Is seven years too light for this pair?

Two strangers meet at the lights and set off racing through the streets resulting in the death of a passer by. Both got seven years, After watching last nights program on Crash Scene Investigators, and seeing the lad in that film get 5 years is this sentence worthy?

    I think not.

Thats more than the average. Anything over 5 years is considered reasonable these days.

the problem with the offence is that they had no intention of killing some one. Yes, they knew it was dangerous but didn't have the premeditated intention of killing some-one on the road. Thus it is not treated as serious as murder but something similar to manslaugther (where you can get a conditional discharge for this offence to life imprisonment).

attached is guidelines to sentencing from BRAKE.

NO WAY, none of the sentences that get handed out today are worth giving. The criminals get away with a slap on the wrist half the time, or like this the sentence doesn't suit the crime. They must leave court laughing some times thinking what they've got.

Cases like this is simple, take a life give-up your own either by life in jail(thats being in jail until you die, for good), or death. They have killed three inocent people and will do about a 31/2 yr stint in jail, if they have got 7yrs make them do the whole sentence FFS people have died because of their utter stupidity.

Some sort of punishment must be brought in to make people afraid to break the law, I always think to myself if I got cought doing stupid speeds in my car it won't be a big deal I'll probably get a few months in the glass house(colchester cos I'm in the Army) or a rather large fine. This is what the courts are handing out these days and a proper punishment can't be given due to law's being so up their own ****.

They never intended to kill anyone, but they did and its their **** up surely the sentence must be harder, ok maybe not death but a longer sentence that they will see through till the end.

They knew going that speed on the road, if they hit someone, that person would most definatly die. But they did it anyway
So for 3 deaths, they got 7 years...
Thats 2 years and 4 months for each person they killed.

We need a new justice system for so many reasons.

Nobody is scared of going to jail or sentancing nowadays.
Bring back the death sentances for some cases. (not this case, but other worse cases)

I've never understood - and probably never will - why if someone is given a life sentence, they can be out in 15 years? I know prisons are crowded, yadda yadda yadda, but why give these idiots 7 year sentences then let them out in 3? FFS, if you're going to let them out early, just give them the short sentence in the first place.

I know this isn't tough enough sentance for taking a life, but I have to admit, one month in a prison would kill me, nevermind years....
