    Vehicle : Vectra GSi 3.2 V6

    Trim : GSi

    Engine : Z32SE

    Year : 2003

    Mileage : 256,000

My GSi's tyres are totally shot, so I've just bought some Falken FK-452s from mytyres.co.uk, costing £260.80 delivered but not fitted. They are in my boot at the moment, hopefully to be fitted tomorrow. If I remember, I'll post my impressions of them tomorrow. Bearing in mind that they will be replacing totally worn out tyres, though, I suspect that any tyre would feel like a massive leap in performance.

The Falken FK-452s have had some good reviews and I'm looking forward to sampling them.

    Happy purchasings!

That was for 4 tyres, delivered but not fitted. They came in at £65.20 each. I just had them fitted (the Rover Centre in St. Albans), new valves, balanced, etc. at a cost of £56.40 for all four! I am most chuffed!

EDIT - They are 225/45 ZR17 94Y (extra load) tyres with rim protection - an excellent specification!

I ordered them from mytyres.co.uk. They were pretty good, I must say. They arrived two days after they were dispatched, which was one day after I ordered them.

The car is MUCH quieter now and is, as the old TV ad used to say, smoother than a cashmere codpiece! I have only driven a few miles at no more than 40mph so far so will report my driving impressions more fully after the weekend.

Well, I have now driven over 300 miles on my new Falken FK-452 (225/45 ZR17 94Y) tyres and they have really transformed the car! The ride quality is brilliant, considering the GSi suspension and the car is much quieter on the road, inside and out. It feels more agile and responsive too.

The rumbling that I had been hearing was due to the old tyres' carcasses beginning to fail! What's more, they still had legal tread left on them! The manufacturer's name was not moulded on the tyres but they were K-104 (Kumho, I think) and they were totally destroyed!

I have the pressures set at 38 psi all round and the fronts feel about right. I might drop the rears to 34 psi, as GSi3.2 recommended somewhere, to see whether this improves the twitchy rear end a little. I think my GSi needs new shock absorbers, though.

So overall, I am pleased with my purchase.

K-104 will be some form of Hankook. The Kingstar K106 is a particularly bad tyre also made by Hankook.
