Default Speed trap Outside our house on Saturday

Our road is a bit of a race track at times. So while I built the baby's new cot, I was made up to see two PCs with a speed gun outside our house. It was really interesting to watch who got done. In the three hours they were there I would say that a good 60% were lady drivers. (Just my observation ladies not a dig) Most got a ticking off but most of the lady were asked to step out the car.

One guy was going so fast that when the copper stepped out to stop him, the copper had to jump back in again to avoid being hit.

I expected alot of the BMW/Jag/Merc brigade round here to get pulled as they tank it past here in the morning but they were in the minority. It was mostly ya houswives or young lads in Focus/KA/Protons which really surprised me.

Still the road noise was grately reduced and I enjoyed some light entertainment for free. Thanks to the local PCs here...Come back soon!

That's what I always say Ste - we all hate the speed cameras, but if one was put outside our house we wouldn't mind one bit.

I have no problem with cameas used for safety, however they don't catch the idiots that drive dangerously (Another story from this morning). All I think is that if my kids ran out of our drive chasing a ball or the like they'd be creme crackered. I have this thought in my head in other peoples roads too.

From the motorway, our road is a national speed limit through 4 miles of fields. The road has nice bends and is fun to drive. After 4 miles it opens out into a residential road that is dead straight and wide. Here the limit is 30. It amazes me when I have to trundle down the country lane at 30 behind someone, but as soon as they get to the straight 30 limit, They drop it down a gear and hoof it.

The number of times people have used their horns on me or used sign language because I was doing 30 in a 30 and had the audacity to slow down to turn into my house amazes me.

One night when I put the bins out I saw FOUR corsa/Fiesta type cars racing past the house three abrest! Enough said!

How does that work then? 4 cars, 3 abreast?

There's a village near me where the residents played hell about speeding and demanded that speed enforcement took place. The vast majority of those caught are.......residents of the village. I have to admit it's quite satisfying giving a speeding ticket to a person who thinks she's the queen mother with a '30 max' sticker on the back of her car!
