    Thumbs down Induction kits?

    Has any1 had trouble with induction kits are fitted?
    After100miles or so I get engine management ligh come on an a loss of power. If remove kit an put ma modded air box an k&n back on an get the car re set its fine again?
    The noise an extra power are good whileit lasts!

    Most people steer clear of induction kits mate as they drag to much hot air in, the noise gives the illusion of more power but most of the time you are actually loosing power due to hot air being less dense than a cold feed which is what you get from a sealed system. Your best bet is to stick to an unrestricted standard airbox with a K&N panel filter. HTH

    imo get a panal filter there much better............edit ah so you did sorry

    I've got a Pipercross induction kit on my GSI and the sound is fantastic. I'm convinced the performance is up too. I've had no problems with it and it seems to me you're only pulling in hot air if you're stationary, on the move you should be pulling in air via the the front grill which is a lot cooler.

    It can sometimes improve power, when i worked at the auto electrical place we had a rolling road and often did before & after power runs with filters.

    Best improvement we had was on my own car at the time (2000 - Colt - 1.6 16v) stuck on 7 bhp to it (It was huge as the same as an Evo one!). Usually added 2-3bhp though.
