Default Holiday in Italy - I just love this car !!

We have just spent our summer holiday in Venice Italy. We enjoyed Italy very much, and we just loved driving the distance with this car. It was a very comfortable ride.

A pretty long drive though ! Ferry from Norway to Denmark. Then we drove trough Denmark, Germany and Austria. Back home again we drove trough Austria, Czech Republic, Germany and Denmark.

A total drive of 4500 km. I just love the Autobahn in these Countries. It is a relief to let the car stretch is legs, after driving in Norway where the highest speed limit is 100 km/t.

Well the car was fully loaded, so I never floored the gas pedal, but the Navi told me that the highest speed driven on this trip was 197 km/t.

The automatic gearbox is very smooth and fits the 1.9 CDTI 150 PS very good.
140 km/t is 2000 rpm, and 180 km/t 2500 rpm ! This means that you almost can’t hear engine noise at all.

The care did not use one drop of oil, and it only consumed 0.69 litre petrol pr. 10 km.

No wonder the Germans call this car: Die Autbahne Schiff !

I hope you understand ”my English”. Here is some pix:

Nice looking car, Baard. As has been said, those 19" snowflakes really set it off nicely. I want some for my metallic black GSi!

I wouldn't mind doing a long tour like that in the GSi...

That estate does look nice. All this talk of foreign driving has me hankering for a burn round Europe!

    Default Autobahn Schiffe?

"The Autobahn ship"? Where did you hear that from? Please tell us!

(But having spent the bank holiday in Cornwall, I can partly agree. The 1.9 CDTi 150 makes a fantastic quiet cruiser down all those miles of M4, M5 and A30....6th gear, set the cruise control for 80..... and relax. With 4 adults and a boot full of luggage 49.7 MPG overall, according to the BC, isn't a bad average either for the entire trip)

Just come back from a driving holl's in Nice, covered 2600 miles in total, i love driving in France ! getting 54 mpg @ 85 mph with the cruise control on, 5 in the car and a boot full of clober ! used BP ultimate and Shell V power diesel as it was working out the same as UK normal fuel, the cd70 nav was just spot on, the 1.9 cdti 150 might be getting on a bit now, but it is just so smooth and quiet ! i have drove all over europe in small and big cars but the Vecy was the most relaxed of them all.
