Despite being the owner of a fine Alpine unit, I have also researched fairly heavily the use of the steering wheel remotes with this unit.

It can be done with a third-party module at great expense for the Alpine so I'll be using the controls on the radio....

I understand that Pioneer may do a compatible adapter for some of their headunits. The only thing is I'm not 100% familiar with the Pioneer range and what the adapter will work with. The adapter part number is:- CA-R-PI.152 but as yet I have not found a price in the UK for this item.

Hope this starts to narrow the search. The other option would be to select a brand of headunit that has the option of any infra-red remote that straps to the steering wheel.

BTW, the alpine I have is the CDA-9831R which is only special offer at Halfrauds at £199 as its last years stock. Cracking MP3/WMA unit!

anything by VDO should also work. The standard headunits are made by them and i beleive the aftermarket ones comes 'pre wired' to work with the display and steering wheel although its worth finding out for definete
