    Default Vectrauma of my own.

Well, my car got itself hit by another driver. It was parked safely (i thought!) outside the house so i was rather surprised to see this appear!

Oh dear! It doesn't look all that bad, but viewed from another angle

I need a new door! You can see near the top of the door the whole panel is folded. So, i look at the note left by the person who hit my car. yeah, right. fortunately my girlfriends mum thought she had seen something the previous night, someone reversing off the driveway of the woman who lives over the road, an odd noise, and then they drove away. She even remembered it was a blue N/M escort with a blonde woman driving (we attribute these good witness skills to an inordinate amount of time watching CSI!). So she spoke with the woman over the road while i was at work and sure enough she does have a friend with a blue escort, and tells us where she lives. This is a view showing her drive on the left and my vec on the right. how the woman managed this i will never know.

So after work we went to the street this escort was supposed to live and went looking for it. didn't take long.

I'd say that's the one!! so ring on the door and a young lad answers. "is this your mums escort?" "yeah." "can i have a word?" "mum, someone here about your car." from inside i hear the dad shouting "shut the door! just shut the door!" oh dear. he persuades his blonde haired mum to come out and i ask "did you have an accident in your car?" "No. dunno what you're on about" "didn't go to see selina last night?" "no." "don't know selina then?
" "well, yeah, but i didn't go see her last night." "hmm, bit of a coincidence then that the damage on the back of your car matches up to mine" "Can you prove it? you got video?" "no. but i have pictures of your damaged car and an eyewitness." "yeah, well, so what if you have got a brand new astra, not all of us have" A nice logical argument there, and also a bit of a stupid thing to say if you're trying to deny all knowledge! So she got a bit stroppy, told me not to give her attitude "cos my usbands ear." and i apologised if she thought i was giving her attitude, i just want to get to the bottom of it. she eventually admitted it was her (well duh!) so off i went to speak to my insurance. they were great BTW, norwich union. Because i had her address and car reg they just told me to book the work in and they would deal with her insurance and they'd get me a hire car. First they wanted me to use a garage i'd never heard of in northampton, but i said i wanted to go to the dealer and they agreed straight off, so book it in i did. I was feeling sorry for my car, so, i decided to buy it a present!

Wanted the FLS for a while and this seemed a good excuse. Continuing in the festive spirit vauxhall decided to give me some presents as well!

Well done guys, you scratched a brand new bit of body work!

Oh, using my door handle as a shoe while it was removed were you? thanks!

Don't like the black? you prefer brown do you? thanks!

Metallic doesn't look good anyway, does it? why bother??

So all in all not too happy. They also didn't use seat covers or floor mats, and employ the greasiest people i have ever seen, the inside of the car (especially the swapped door card) was disgusting. and they manged to add around 50 miles to the clock! But they did dress my tyres, so yay. except they used a trigger/aerosol and did it WITH THE DOORS OPEN!!
The paperwork i signed gave me ten days to inspect the work, picked it up on wednesday so will be going back one day this week, but frankly i don't want them anywhere near my car if they're just going to **** it up again.

It's probably unrelated but my CD70 has also started playing up, it's telling me my NAV cd is inavlid and ejects it every time i start the car....

The woman is lucky you didn't go to the police.... I'd have been more than happy to stick her on for failing to stop and failing to report!!!!

Sorry to hear about the bad quality of the work... you should get it sorted quite easily though.... if not give NU a call.

Good detective work there! Unbelievable that even when confronted people will still try and deny it. There was no way on this earth she wouldn't have known that she had hit you!!

Sorry to see the shoddy work after all that as well! Hope you get it sorted.

Thanks for the sympathy guys, in case you are wondering the dealer is Forest Gate Corby. Car is due it's first service before the end of september, think i'll take it wellingborough instead!

The woman did seem a bit more sympathetic after she found out it was privately owned and not a company car, not that that's any excuse!

ditchp, i think you are right and I should probably send details to VX customer services, not sure what they'll do mind - probably send me a letter saying "we've got together with VOSA and your paintwork looks fine to us!!"
